A Movie Web App Built Without a Framework

The Challenge

Building without React means the DOM discipline is yours: state, updates, event handling and responsiveness all done by hand. The goal was an experience users would assume came from a framework — smooth, dynamic and responsive — from fundamentals alone.

  • Dynamic UI without a framework
  • Hand-managed state and DOM updates
  • Responsive across devices
  • Interactivity that feels modern

The Approach

Vanilla JavaScript and jQuery drive the interactivity and real-time content updates, Tailwind handles the responsive layout, and the structure keeps DOM manipulation organized instead of tangled.

  • Vanilla JS + jQuery interactivity
  • Tailwind responsive layout
  • Organized DOM update patterns
  • Real-time content updates

What I Built

A polished movie-browsing experience from web fundamentals.

  • Responsive browsing UI
  • Interactive features throughout
  • Dynamic real-time updates

The Outcome

Live online — proof of the fundamentals under every framework I use today: if the framework disappeared tomorrow, the web skills remain.

  • Live demo online
  • Framework-free dynamic UI delivered
  • Fundamentals that transfer everywhere
